CCRAS-CSMCARI, CIM&-Chennai Partner to Advance Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy Research and Training

To advancement for Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy, MoU was signed between the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences – Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CSMCARI), Chennai, under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and the Commissionerate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy (CIM&H), Arumbakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The ceremony took place at the Kalaignar Centenary Multi-Speciality Hospital, Guindy, in the esteemed presence of Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Minister MA. Subramanian and Additional Chief Secretary & Health and Family Welfare Secretary Gagan Deep Singh, IAS.

The MoU outlines a comprehensive framework for collaborative efforts in testing services, imparting training, and executing a joint project titled ‘Research Studies for the Standardization and Evaluation of Toxicity Studies for the Preparation of Selected Higher Order Medicines.’ Key objectives of the MoU include:

  • Testing and Standardization: Conducting rigorous testing of selected raw drugs and finished products to ensure the standardization of Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic medicines.
  • NABL Accreditation Training: Providing National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) Accreditation Training guidance to the CIM&H laboratory.
  • Collaborative Research Project: Implementing the collaborative research project to study and evaluate the toxicity of selected higher-order medicines, following the approved proposal and adhering to CCRAS Research Policy guidelines.

Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, remarked, ‘This MoU between CCRAS and CIM&H sets a precedent for other states in India to join hands with CCRAS and the Ministry of AYUSH for various research and development activities.’

The signing of this MoU signifies a pivotal step in enhancing the collaborative efforts between these leading institutions. The anticipated outcomes include:

  • Enhanced Quality and Safety: Implementing rigorous testing and standardization protocols will ensure the higher quality and safety of Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic medicines, benefiting practitioners and patients alike.
  • Specialized Training Programs: Providing NABL Accreditation Training guidance will enhance the capabilities of the CIM&H laboratory, ensuring adherence to the highest standards.
  • Collaborative Research Initiatives: Conducting joint research projects focused on evaluating the toxicity of selected higher-order medicines will contribute valuable data to the scientific community, ensuring the safety and efficacy of these treatments.
  • Capacity Building and Knowledge Exchange: Promoting ongoing knowledge exchange and capacity building, the partnership will foster a collaborative environment encouraging innovation and excellence in Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy.
