Maharashtra Government Announces Major IPS Transfers to Strengthen Law Enforcement

The Maharashtra government has transferred several senior IPS officers to enhance operational efficiency and bolster law enforcement across key departments, including law and order, cyber security, and economic offences.

Leading the list of appointments, 1996-batch IPS officer Nikhil Gupta has been designated as the ADG of Law and Order. His extensive experience in policing is expected to contribute to maintaining public safety and security across the state.

Other key transfers and promotions include IPS Suresh Mekhla, who has been appointed as ADG of the Economic Offences Wing, and IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma (2005 batch), who will take on the role of IGP (Law and Order) upon his return from Central deputation. Additionally, IPS Yashasvi Yadav (2000 batch) has been elevated to ADG (Maharashtra Cyber), reflecting the government’s growing focus on cyber security.

IPS Suhas Warke (2000 batch) has been promoted as ADG (Prisons), while IPS Aswathi Dorje has been elevated to ADG (Prevention of Atrocities against Women and Children), reinforcing efforts to protect vulnerable groups. IPS Chhering Dorje has been promoted as ADG (Special Operations) from his previous role as IGP (Law and Order), and IPS KMM Prasanna has been promoted as ADG (Administration) from IGP (Establishment).

In other appointments, IPS R B Dahale has been transferred as Special IGP of the Pune-based State Crime Records Centre. IPS Ashok Morale has been assigned as IGP of the Motor Transport Section in Pune, previously serving as IGP of SRPF. IPS Rajiv Jain has been promoted to IG (SRPF), while IPS Abhishek Trimukhe has been appointed as Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region), Mumbai. Lastly, IPS Shrenik Lodha has been transferred as Additional SP in Buldhana from Aheri, Gadchiroli.
