IIT Ropar & iDG10 Solutions Ink MoU to Advance Subsea Pipeline Design Training and Consultancy in India

In a significant step toward developing indigenous expertise in subsea and offshore engineering, the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) and iDG10 Solutions Private Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a long-term collaboration in validation, testing, training, and joint consultancy for subsea pipeline design technology.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar, and Silvi Francis Farnand, A&P Director & Co-founder, iDG10 Solutions Pvt. Ltd, in the presence of Dr. Sarang Gumfekar, Associate Dean (Continuing Education and Outreach), and Prof. Dhiraj K. Mahajan, who will coordinate the partnership activities from IIT Ropar.

The 60-month collaboration aims to create an India-based capability for world-class subsea pipeline design training, hands-on tool validation, and industry-focused consultancy, leveraging IIT Ropar’s academic and research strengths with iDG10’s proprietary software — Subsea Pipeline Design Tool (SPDT). This initiative is expected to reduce dependence on overseas providers and build domestic capacity for India’s rapidly expanding offshore, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

“The MoU marks an important step toward building home-grown capability in a highly specialized and strategic area of offshore engineering. Our students and researchers will gain practical, tool-based experience that directly addresses industry needs and national infrastructure priorities,” said Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar.

“We are excited to partner with IIT Ropar to bring SPDT-driven education and consultancy to India’s engineers. This collaboration will help bridge the gap and enable faster, safer, and more cost-effective subsea pipeline projects,” said Silvi Francis Farnand, A&P Director & Co-founder, iDG10 Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

Key Highlights of the Partnership

  • Software access for education & validation: iDG10 will provide SPDT and proprietary tool licenses for academic use, validation, and testing by students and researchers.

  • Industry-ready training: A flagship Subsea Pipeline Design Course will include 5 days of in-person classroom learning at IIT Ropar followed by a 21-day live project using SPDT.

  • Capstone & research opportunities: iDG10 will sponsor Capstone projects for BTech/MTech students, providing access to SPDT tools and mentorship for top performers.

  • Joint consultancy: IIT Ropar and iDG10 will jointly offer consultancy services to sectors including Oil & Gas (offshore), Water & Wastewater, Hydrogen transport, District heating & cooling, Carbon Capture, Mining, and Thermal power cooling systems.

This collaboration positions IIT Ropar and iDG10 Solutions at the forefront of India’s push for technological self-reliance in subsea and pipeline engineering, aligning with the national vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
