UP Government Reshuffles Senior IPS Officers; Tarun Gauba Appointed IG, Lucknow Range

The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred 11 senior IPS officers in a move aimed at bolstering law enforcement leadership across key regions of the state.

As per the official notification, IPS officer Tarun Gauba, a 2001-batch officer currently serving as the Police Commissioner of Prayagraj Commissionerate, has been appointed as the Inspector General of Police (IG), Lucknow Range.

In addition to the appointment of IPS Tarun Gauba as IG, Lucknow Range, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a series of notable transfers involving 10 other senior IPS officers as part of its latest administrative reshuffle.

IPS Ashutosh Kumar, a 2001-batch officer previously serving as Inspector General (IG) at the PAC Headquarters in Lucknow, has been appointed as Additional Police Commissioner in the Kanpur Commissionerate. IPS Upendra Kumar Agarwal, a 2005-batch officer who held the position of IG, Lucknow Range, has now been posted as IG of the Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) Headquarters, also in Lucknow.

IPS Jogendra Kumar, from the 2007 batch, has been transferred from the position of IG, Kanpur Range, and will now serve as the Police Commissioner of Prayagraj Commissionerate. Meanwhile, IPS Sanjeev Tyagi, a 2010-batch officer, has been moved from his role as Additional Commissioner of Police in Agra to become the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons Administration & Reforms in Lucknow.

IPS Pradeep Gupta, also of the 2010 batch, who previously held the post of DIG, Telecom in Lucknow, has now been appointed as IG, Prisons Administration & Reforms, in Lucknow. Similarly, IPS Harish Chandra, another 2010-batch officer, has been transferred from his position as Additional Commissioner of Police in Kanpur Commissionerate to take charge as DIG, Kanpur Range.

IPS Ram Badan Singh, from the 2011 batch, who was serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Commissionerate Gautam Budh Nagar, has been posted as Additional Commissioner of Police in Agra Commissionerate. IPS Hemant Kutiyal, also of the 2011 batch and currently DIG, UP Special Security Force (SSF), Lucknow, has been relieved of his additional responsibility as DIG, Prisons Administration & Reforms.

From the 2014 batch, IPS Ramesh Prasad Gupta has been transferred from the role of Superintendent of Police, Logistics, Lucknow, and appointed as Commandant of the 24th Battalion, PAC, Moradabad. Lastly, IPS Amit Kumar, a 2015-batch officer, has been shifted from his post as Commandant of the 24th Battalion, PAC, Moradabad, and will now serve as Commandant of the 35th Battalion, PAC, Lucknow.
