Uttar Pradesh Government Executes Major Bureaucratic Overhaul, Transfers 16 IAS Officers Across Key Departments

The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated a major administrative reshuffle, transferring 16 senior IAS officers and reorganizing leadership across critical departments including education, health, environment, transport, youth welfare, and revenue. The changes are designed to strengthen departmental oversight and accelerate governance reforms.

Divisional Commissioner Changes

Three divisions have new leadership:

• Vijay Vishwas Pant (2004 batch), previously heading Prayagraj, now serves as Divisional Commissioner of Lucknow.
• Saumya Agarwal (2008 batch), former Bareilly Commissioner, takes up the role in Prayagraj.
• Anamika Singh (2004 batch), who was Secretary for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, moves to Bareilly as Divisional Commissioner.

Key Appointments in Education

• Kanchan Verma (2005 batch), earlier Director General of School Education, is now Commissioner and Secretary in the Revenue Council.
• Monika Rani (2010 batch), Special Secretary for Basic Education, steps in as Acting Director General, School Education.

Food Safety and Drug Administration Assignments

• Dr. Roshan Jacob (2004 batch), previously Lucknow Commissioner, transitions to Secretary and Commissioner, Food Safety and Drug Administration.
• The Food Safety portfolio is withdrawn from Ranjan Kumar (2000 batch), focusing him solely on AYUSH.
• Rajesh Kumar-II (2009 batch) is the new Director General of Tourism.

Shifts in Transport and Medical Education

• Kinjal Singh (2008 batch) leaves Medical Education to become Transport Commissioner.
• Brajesh Narayan Singh (2009 batch), outgoing Transport Commissioner, is appointed Secretary, General Administration, ahead of his planned retirement.
• Aparna U, Secretary for Medical Education, also takes charge as Director General, Medical Education.

Youth Welfare and AYUSH

• Suhas L. Y (2007 batch), Secretary Sports and Youth Welfare, now also leads Youth Welfare and the Provincial Guard.
• Chaitra V (2007 batch), moves from Youth Welfare and Provincial Guard to Director General, AYUSH.
• Sanjay Kumar Khatri (2010 batch) is promoted as CEO for the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority.

Updates in Environment, Forest, and Women’s Welfare

• B. Chandrakala (2008 batch), former Secretary Women Welfare, takes charge of Forest, Environment, and Climate Change, and is now CEO of UP Clean Air Management Project Authority.
• Manisha Trighatia (2002 batch) becomes Secretary, Women Welfare, Child Development, and Nutrition.
