Lucknow University Announces Anti-plagiarism Committee

Lucknow: Lucknow University (LU) has recently announced the implementation of a new Ph.D. ordinance, which includes the establishment of an anti-plagiarism committee in every department.

The Vice-Chancellor of LU, Alok Kumar Rai, provided further details on this initiative. He explained that the anti-plagiarism committee will consist of the department head (HoD) and two teachers nominated by the head. This committee will play a crucial role in reviewing and verifying Ph.D. thesis to ensure that they are free from plagiarism. To strengthen their efforts, the university has adopted the advanced plagiarism detection software, Ouriginal.

Rai emphasized that the committee should ensure that the new Ph.D. ordinance reflects the university’s dedication to promoting quality research and fostering a culture of innovation and originality. He highlighted that research integrity is a fundamental pillar in the pursuit of knowledge and academic excellence.

Professor Poonam Tandon, who serves as the member secretary of the committee responsible for drafting the new Ph.D. ordinance, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaborative efforts that have been invested in this task. She expressed confidence that the new measures will empower researchers to engage in high-quality research and make substantial contributions to their respective fields.

The new Ph.D. ordinance will come into effect during the current academic session of 2023-24. The university stated that this marks a significant milestone in its journey toward cultivating a culture of academic rigor, integrity, and originality among its scholars.
