AICTE To Set-up Innovation Centres Across Country

Chennai: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is looking to establish twelve innovation centers throughout the country, according to Chairman T.G. Sitharam’s statement on Saturday during the 37th convocation address at the Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy (SASTRA) Deemed-to-be-University.

Prof. Sitharam emphasized the need for a new approach to teaching, recognizing the importance of survival skills and critical thinking in our rapidly evolving world. While students have the freedom to choose their course, it is crucial for them to gain practical experience in technology and concepts during their education to become valuable assets in the job market.

Adding further, he said that that the students should develop competency and acquaintance with subjects and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 had evolved on the same lines.

Stating that progress was driven by research and innovation, Prof. Sitharam urged the graduating students to cultivate the right mindset and values to thrive in their professional careers. Emphasizing the importance of education in one’s mother tongue, the chairman of AICTE highlighted that the council had produced course materials in 13 languages, in addition to English.

The convocation, presided over by Chancellor R. Sethuraman and attended by Vice-Chancellor S. Vaidhyasubramaniam, saw more than 4,000 students receiving their degrees.
