The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet has announced a key appointments in crucial national security agencies. Sadanand Vasant Date, an IPS officer of the 1990 Batch from the Maharashtra cadre, has been chosen as the new Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). This decision comes as IPS Dinkar Gupta, the current head of the NIA, approaches his superannuation on 31st March 2024.
Simultaneously, the committee has given the nod to Piyush Anand’s appointment as the Director General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). An IPS officer from the 1991 Batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Piyush Anand currently serves as the Special DG of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). He will step into the shoes of IPS Atul Karwal, who is set to retire on the same date, 31st March 2024.
Further bolstering the leadership lineup is the appointment of IPS Rajeev Kumar as the new Director General of the Bureau of Police Research and Development. With these strategic appointments, the government aims to ensure continuity and effectiveness in these critical agencies responsible for maintaining national security and disaster response.
