Uttarakhand CM Initiates Phase-I of Higher Education Promotion Scholarship Scheme, Grants Rs 33.51 Lakh to 241 Students

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami kicked off the first phase of the Chief Minister’s Higher Education Promotion Scholarship Scheme by disbursing an amount of Rs 33.51 lakh through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of 241 deserving students. The ceremony took place at the Chief Minister’s residence, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting higher education in the state.

In this initial phase, the scholarships were awarded to students entering their first year of graduation at various university campuses and government colleges across Uttarakhand. Eligible candidates possessed a minimum of 80 percent marks in their 12th-grade examinations. The scholarship amounts, determined by faculty-wise merit lists at the college level, include Rs 3000, Rs 2000, and Rs 1500 for the first, second, and third positions, respectively.

Chief Minister Dhami, while distributing the scholarships, underscored the government’s dedication to supporting students from ordinary families and ensuring that financial constraints do not impede their pursuit of higher education.

During the interaction with students from various colleges and universities, CM Dhami congratulated the beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme and encouraged them to forge ahead in life with diligence and patience. He emphasized the importance of dedication and concentration in achieving success and shared anecdotes about individuals who overcame challenging circumstances to make a mark in history.

Reflecting on the country’s progress, CM Dhami credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and highlighted India’s rapid growth across various sectors. He stated that under PM Modi’s guidance, India had become the world’s fifth-largest economy, and the nation’s global standing had risen significantly.

Furthermore, CM Dhami urged everyone to join forces in making the next decade the ‘decade of Uttarakhand,’ aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision. He called for united efforts to propel Uttarakhand into the ranks of leading states in the country, emphasizing the collective responsibility of citizens in achieving this goal.

The scholarship distribution for students in other classes is slated to follow after verification on the Samarth portal at the institute level, ensuring transparency and adherence to eligibility criteria.
