Smrutiranjan Mohanty Appointed as Commissioner of Howrah Municipal Corporation

IAS Smrutiranjan Mohanty, hailing from the 2015 batch of the West Bengal cadre, has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the Howrah Municipal Corporation. This decision comes as part of a recent administrative shuffle, marking Mohanty’s transition from his previous role as Special Secretary in the Youth Services and Sports Department.

The confirmation of Mohanty’s transfer was conveyed through an official circular, signifying the state’s determination to leverage his expertise in municipal governance. Mohanty brings a diverse background to his new position, having previously served as an IRS officer from June 2014 to July 2015 before joining the prestigious Indian Administrative Service.

Mohanty’s academic credentials complement his professional experience, as he holds a Master’s degree in Public Management from the esteemed Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration.
