India to Make Historic Milestones in Space and Deep-Sea Exploration by 2025

In a recent announcement, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh revealed that India is set to achieve two historic milestones by 2025: its first human space mission and a deep-sea exploration mission. The announcement was made during his address at the Bharat 24 News network.

Dr. Singh shared that four astronauts—three Group Captains and one Wing Commander—have been selected for India’s inaugural human spaceflight mission, Gaganyaan. This ambitious project marks a significant step forward in India’s space exploration efforts. In parallel, India’s Deep-Sea mission will send three Indians to explore the ocean’s depths, showcasing the country’s growing expertise in marine technology.

Highlighting India’s progress in the space and marine sectors, Dr. Singh emphasized the broader impact of these advancements. ‘The space sector is not just about launching rockets and satellites. It will also drive growth in agriculture, infrastructure, communication, healthcare, and more,’ he said. Initiatives such as land record management, the new geospatial policy, and soil health cards are set to boost farmer productivity and transform the agricultural landscape.

The minister pointed out the rapid growth of India’s space startup ecosystem. ‘In 2022, we had just one space startup. By 2024, after opening the sector to private participation, we have nearly 200 startups, many with global capabilities. In just a few months, private sector investment in the space sector has reached 1000 crore,’ Dr. Singh noted.

India’s advancements in quantum technologies were also highlighted, with the minister mentioning the National Quantum Mission. He further emphasized the untapped potential of India’s vast natural resources, including the Himalayan region and the 7500 km long coastline.

As India prepares to make history in space and marine exploration, these initiatives reflect the country’s vision of leveraging science and technology for holistic development and global leadership.
