New Delhi: The Bureau of Indian Standards, which is recognized as the National Standards Body of India, recently signed MoUs with 35 institutions situated across the country. The aim of these collaborations is to promote cooperation in the field of standardization and conformity assessment. Notably, the participating institutions comprise several well-known NITs, Government and Private Engineering colleges from various states across India.
The MoU will enable the partner institutions to actively engage in standardization activities through their association with the Bureau’s technical committees at national and international levels. It will also provide them with infrastructure support for relevant research and development projects, opportunities to jointly organize events on Standardization and Conformity Assessment, exchange publications, introduce standardization curricula in academic institutions, explore the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Standardization, testing, and Conformity Assessment, as well as share laboratory facilities.
During the event, Pramod Kumar Tiwari, the Director General of BIS, highlighted the profound impact of the MoUs with these esteemed academic institutions on enhancing and enriching the activities related to formulating standards. Shri Chandan Bahl, the Deputy Director General of BIS, eloquently elaborated on the program’s framework and future trajectory, providing detailed insights and captivating the audience with his informative explanation of how this partnership will evolve.
