Shipping Corporation of India Signs Mega MoU to Boost Energy Transit Fleet

The Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI), a leading PSU Navratna, has inked a crucial Memorandum of Understanding with Bharat Petroleum (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL), and Indian Oil (IOCL) for the joint construction and operation of the nation’s petroleum transportation vessels.

Supported by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, this initiative aims to ramp up India’s energy security and shipping capacity for hydrocarbon transportation. Following the announcement, SCI’s stock surged by over 8%, echoing market optimism about the future of India’s maritime infrastructure.

This collaborative move is positioned as a catalyst for industrial growth, job creation, and enhanced global competitiveness in the sector—an indicator of vigorous government-backed synergy among top PSU.
