Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has launched a Vigilance Awareness Week campaign titled “GeM Ki Sunien, Satark Rahein, Zimmedar Banein” to promote transparency, integrity, and ethical practices in public procurement. The drive encourages government buyers to follow best practices and sellers, including startups and MSEs from smaller cities, to leverage GeM’s secure, transparent platform.
GeM CEO Mihir Kumar said the platform represents a national commitment to fairness and inclusion, connecting last-mile entrepreneurs with buyers across India. As part of the outreach, campaigns have begun in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, showcasing opportunities available to local enterprises.
Supportive measures like red-flag alerts, structured bidding, 97 percent of orders exempt from transaction fees, and waived caution money for new sellers have boosted participation. This has translated into significant business: sellers in Madhya Pradesh have received ₹38,027 crore worth of orders, while those in Chhattisgarh secured ₹87,873 crore, with strong contributions from MSEs, startups, women-led firms, and SC/ST entrepreneurs.
