The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched the ‘AI Bharat 5G/6G Sandbox’ Hackathon, an international competition aimed at promoting innovation and harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in the next generation of communication networks.
The Hackathon was launched by Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) as a side event of the forthcoming World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-24) to be held in New Delhi from October 15-24th, 2024.
The competition is open to Indian and international participants, including students, startups, and industry experts, and will focus on applying ITU standards to create applications that integrate AI/ML in networks. The Hackathon will deal with two problem statements: building AI/ML models for 5G/6G and building xApps for autonomous 5G/6G.
The winners will receive prizes, including special prizes for best students, best startups, and best girls’ teams, in addition to the top 3 overall solutions.
The Hackathon will be held in two phases: online from August 7 to September 30, 2024, and in-person at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, for a 2-day coding event. Registration closes on September 19, 2024, and the deadline for submission is September 26, 2024.
