India-EU trade talks making steady progress: Piyush Goyal

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said negotiations on the proposed India-EU Free Trade Agreement are moving swiftly, with the two sides expected to “substantially conclude” the pact during the upcoming visit of EU Trade and Agriculture Commissioners.

The chief negotiators are currently engaged in the 13th round of discussions, with about 60–65% of the chapters already completed and finalised. EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic and Agriculture Commissioner Christophe Hansen are scheduled to visit India this week. Goyal said both sides are working actively to reach convergence on the remaining issues and expressed confidence that significant progress will be achieved during the visit.
