Following Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s announcement that the National Testing Agency (NTA) will exclusively conduct entrance exams for higher education institutions from 2025, several changes are underway. The NTA, which previously also handled recruitment exams, has received new leadership appointments, signaling the start of its revamped mandate.
The NTA, responsible for conducting key examinations for the Department of Higher Education, has faced criticism over allegations of paper leaks, sparking concerns among students and parents. To address these issues and enhance exam processes, the government is exploring advanced technology solutions, including computer-adaptive tests for future entrance exams.
To bolster its operational capabilities, the NTA has appointed the following officers:
- Archana Shukla (ISS: 2013): Appointed as Joint Director (Deputy Secretary Level) for four years.
- Amit Kumar (Indian Supply Service: 2014): Appointed as Joint Director (DS Level) for four years.
- Sandip Kumar Mishra (IRS IT: 2007): Appointed as Director for a five-year term.
- Shivani (IRPS: 2013): Appointed as Joint Director for four years.
The restructuring aims to strengthen the integrity and efficiency of the NTA’s examination process as it transitions into its new role.
