Oracle to Modernise India’s Free Education Tech Platform DIKSHA

The Union Ministry of Education has partnered with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to enhance and expand India’s free education tech platform, DIKSHA. Through this collaboration, Oracle will assist the education ministry in utilizing DIKSHA to offer educational resources to a larger audience of students, teachers, and collaborators throughout the country. Migrating to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure will support the ministry in scaling DIKSHA 2.0 and reducing IT costs. This strategic alliance aims to modernize and amplify the impact of DIKSHA for the benefit of education in India.

Since migrating to OCI, DIKSHA has experienced enhanced scalability, heightened security, increased cost efficiency, and the flexibility to adjust capacity based on demand. This has empowered DIKSHA to deliver a greater volume of content and serve a larger number of students and educators as the platform continues to expand.

‘Education serves as a vital foundation for economic progress, and India’s knowledge-based economy remains among the largest worldwide. It is imperative that we embrace contemporary tools and technology to ensure convenient and secure access to education for all,’ stated Indu Kumar, the Head of the Department of ICT and Training at the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), part of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

DIKSHA, one of India’s largest digital public infrastructure initiatives for school education and foundational learning programmes, is helping to support inclusive learning for communities of underserved and disabled learners across the country. Developed by the EkStep Foundation using the open-source platform Sunbird, DIKSHA is available in 36 Indian languages and supports 1.48 million schools in all of India’s 35 states and Union Territories.

‘As an exemplary model of the ‘made in India and made for India’ initiative, DIKSHA stands out as one of the largest free education platforms globally,’ stated Shailender Kumar, Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director of Oracle India and NetSuite Asia Pacific and Japan. He further explained that Oracle, with its well-established position in the industry, can effectively assist educational institutions in adapting to evolving student demands in the digital age, ensuring flexibility in catering to diverse student needs. Oracle’s advanced cloud technology aligns seamlessly with DIKSHA’s objectives, enabling scalability, elasticity, enhanced application performance, heightened security, and improved operational efficiency.

The migration of DIKSHA to the Oracle Cloud Mumbai region is being carried out by two esteemed members of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, namely Bharti Airtel and Trigyn Technologies. This strategic collaboration ensures a seamless deployment and operation of the DIKSHA platform, reinforcing its commitment to providing a professional, engaging, and informative educational experience.”
