PM Modi Launches ₹36,000 Crore Projects in Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled and laid the foundation stone for projects worth nearly ₹36,000 crore in Bihar, marking one of the state’s largest investment pushes in recent years. The projects, covering infrastructure, agriculture, and connectivity, are aimed at accelerating economic development and improving livelihoods.

A key highlight was the inauguration of a new terminal building at Purnea Airport, designed to enhance regional connectivity and reduce travel time for passengers. The upgraded facility is expected to improve access to northeast India and promote tourism in the state. Alongside, road and railway projects were announced to strengthen Bihar’s transport backbone.

In a significant move for farmers, Modi announced the formation of a National Makhana Board, dedicated to supporting the traditional makhana (fox nut) cultivation that Bihar is famous for. The board will work towards standardizing quality, improving processing facilities, boosting exports, and ensuring that farmers secure better prices for their produce. This step is being hailed as a major boost for rural incomes and agri-based entrepreneurship.

Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister emphasized that Bihar’s growth is central to India’s development story. He said the state had suffered from years of neglect, but these projects are aimed at transforming its image and creating opportunities for youth. “Our focus is on building modern infrastructure and empowering the people of Bihar to realize their potential,” he said.

The announcement has been welcomed by industry groups and farmer unions, though experts note that effective implementation and timely completion of the projects will be crucial. If executed well, the investments could serve as a turning point for Bihar’s economic trajectory, creating jobs, boosting rural incomes, and attracting private investment.
