Bhuvnesh Kumar, a distinguished IAS officer of the 1995 batch from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has assumed charge as the CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Known for his exemplary administrative acumen, Kumar brings a wealth of experience to his new role, furthering the mission of UIDAI in enabling digital identity for all.
A graduate and gold medalist from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, Kumar has an illustrious career spanning significant roles both at the Centre and in his cadre state of Uttar Pradesh. In addition to his appointment as CEO UIDAI, he continues to serve as an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
Previously, Kumar has held the position of Joint Secretary in MeitY, contributing to critical initiatives in India’s digital transformation journey. At the state level, he served as Principal Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries, and held key roles including Secretary Finance, Secretary MSME, Secretary Technical Education, and Divisional Commissioner, Department of Land Revenue in Uttar Pradesh.
His multifaceted expertise extends to the domains of sports, youth welfare, planning, and vocational education, where he has made notable contributions as Secretary.
