Karnataka Bank has appointed Sughosh Nagendra as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective October 30, 2026. With nearly three decades of experience spanning IT services, banking, financial services and digital transformation, Nagendra joins the 102-year-old institution at a time when technology modernisation, cybersecurity and digital banking capabilities are increasingly central to the financial services sector.
Nagendra began his career in 1996 and spent more than 13 years in IT services with HCL Technologies, Wipro and TCS, leading technology delivery and large-scale operations across geographies. He subsequently held senior technology and infrastructure leadership roles at Barclays, Allstate, UBS, RBL Bank, First Abu Dhabi Bank and YES BANK. Most recently, he served as Chief Digital and Information Officer at Agilus Diagnostics, where he led initiatives involving cloud-ready applications, enterprise systems modernisation, data centre consolidation and secure connectivity across the organisation’s extensive diagnostics network.
At Karnataka Bank, Nagendra’s experience in technology operations, IT strategy, infrastructure, governance, risk management and digital transformation is expected to support the bank’s ongoing technology priorities. The bank serves more than 14 million customers across retail, agriculture, MSME, corporate and treasury segments, making reliable and secure digital infrastructure an important part of its operations.
His appointment comes as financial institutions increasingly focus on modernising legacy systems, improving customer and employee experiences, strengthening cybersecurity and exploring artificial intelligence within regulated environments. Nagendra’s experience across established banking institutions and large-scale technology transformations brings a broad operational perspective to Karnataka Bank’s technology leadership.
