AB PM-Jay scheme covers a beneficiary base of more than 140 million families

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), the world’s largest Government funded health assurance scheme has covered a beneficiary base of more than 140 million families as of April 1, 2022.

National Health Authority has tweeted, “As of April 1, AB PM-Jay in alliance with public health plans covers a beneficiary base of more than 140 million families. Nearly 180 million people have been identified under this program and received an Ayushman card.”

National Health Authority is the apex body implementing AB-PMJAY across the country. The scheme provides health assurance of up to Rs.5 Lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary healthcare hospitalizations. It is implemented across the country through a three-tier model.  AB-PMJAY at States/UTs level and State Health Agencies (SHAs) have been established to ensure effective and smooth implementation.
