To commemorate 75 years of India’s independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 75 digital banking units (DBUs) across 75 districts on August 15. The DBUs will be fully digitalized, and also be utilized as digital financial learning centres for customers.

The government has identified 75 districts including Srinagar, Leh, Aizwal Lakshadweep, Kota, Lucknow, and Nanital among others. The banks have been asked to set up infrastructure and train manpower for these DBUs.
The digital infrastructure of the DBU will enable the delivery of digital banking products and services. .The setting up of DBU was initiated to ensure that the benefits of digital banking reach every part of the country. Digital banking units (DBU) in 75 districts, announced in the Budget the Union Budget 2022-23 by Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman is likely to become operational by July this year..
