Chandrayan-3 to be Launched in July

Sriharikota: The Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), S Somnath, announced that Chandrayaan-3 is prepared for launch in July. According to S Somnath, the spacecraft is fully integrated, and testing has been completed. The launch window is currently set between July 12 and July 19, and the exact date will be announced once all tests are finalized.

S Somnath also mentioned that ISRO is considering the Artemis Accord as a political engagement with the United States. This accord signifies a mutual intent for collaborative work in the space sector, particularly in the exploration of outer planets. ISRO expresses agreement with this proposal and aims to collaborate with the US, especially in high-end technologies. Such collaboration would create opportunities for Indian industries involved in the space sector to work alongside US companies in the same domain.

Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 and aims to demonstrate capabilities in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface. The mission includes a lander and rover configuration. The launch of Chandrayaan-3 will be conducted by the Launch Vehicle Mark-III from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.

The officials have scheduled the launch for July 13 at 2:30 pm. The propulsion module will transport the lander and rover configuration to a lunar orbit of 100 km. Additionally, the mission incorporates a payload called Spectro-Polarimetry of Habitable Planet Earth, which is designed to study spectral and polarimetric measurements of Earth from the lunar orbit.
