The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare initiated a nationwide campaign to raise awareness among all Central Government pensioners and Pension Disbursing Authorities about the use of DLC/Face Authentication technology for submitting Digital Life Certificates. The campaign, scheduled from November 1st to 30th, 2023, will take place across 500 locations in 100 cities nationwide, targeting 5 million pensioners. It will be conducted in collaboration with 17 pension disbursing banks, various Ministries/Departments, Pensioners’ Welfare Associations, UIDAI, and MeitY.
A delegation from DoPPW, led by Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary (Pensions), will visit Bengaluru on November 4th to assess the progress of the campaign. The visit will involve discussions with bank officials, pensioners, and representatives from three registered Pensioners’ Associations: The Karnataka Central Government Pensioners’ Association, Karnataka Posts and Telecommunications’ Pensioners’ Association, and All India BSNL Pensioners Welfare Association.
Initiatives for Digital Life Certificate (DLC) in Pension System:
- Promotion of JeevanPramaan Digital Life Certificate for enhancing ‘Ease of Living’ for Central Government pensioners
- Introduction of DLC submission through biometric devices in 2014
- Collaboration with MeitY and UIDAI to develop Face Authentication technology for DLC submission via Android smartphones
- Launch of Face Authentication technology in November 2021, reducing dependence on external biometric devices
Nationwide campaign in November 2022 across 37 cities, resulting in the issuance of over 35 lakh DLCs for Central Government Pensioners.
