IIT Delhi Launches Certificate Programme on Fundamentals of EVs and Charging Infrastructure

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has announced the commencement of the second batch of its certificate programme focusing on the Fundamentals of Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Charging Infrastructure. This initiative comes as a response to the rapidly growing demand for skilled professionals within the electric vehicle sector in India.

In a statement released by IIT Delhi, it was highlighted that the new course is designed to address the evolving needs of the industry amid the burgeoning electric vehicle era. With the country’s electric vehicle market projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 49% from 2022 to 2030, the programme aims to equip professionals with specialized skills essential for this emerging sector.

The statement further elaborated that by 2030, annual sales of EVs in India are anticipated to surpass one crore units, leading to the creation of an estimated five crore direct and indirect jobs. This underlines the critical importance of preparing a skilled workforce capable of contributing to the growth and sustainability of the electric vehicle industry.

IIT Delhi Certificate Programme: Course Curriculum

The certificate programme, spanning five months and consisting of 55 hours of online learning, is tailored for mid-career professionals seeking to excel in the electric vehicle domain. The curriculum is meticulously designed to focus on the development of new products, processes, and infrastructure that promote sustainability and environmental protection.

Participants of the programme will delve into modules covering various aspects such as EV charging infrastructure, fundamentals of EVs and motors, battery technology, communication and security, and protection of EV chargers. These modules aim to enhance participants’ managerial competencies and provide them with a comprehensive understanding of the electric vehicle ecosystem.

Programme Delivery and Features

The learning experience will be facilitated through the Interactive Learning (IL) platform, delivered in direct-to-device (D2D) mode for convenience and accessibility. Additionally, participants will have the unique opportunity to engage in a one-day immersion programme at the prestigious IIT Delhi campus, enhancing their learning experience.

The launch of this certificate programme by IIT Delhi signifies a proactive step towards meeting the demands of the evolving electric vehicle industry in India. It not only aims to bridge the skill gap but also empowers professionals to contribute effectively to the sustainable growth of the sector, aligning with the country’s ambitious goals for electric mobility.
