AI- Biggest Disruptive Tech of 21st Century, Says Amit Sharma Secretary ICT Mizoram

Amit Sharma, Secretary to the Government of Mizoram, Information & Communications Technology (ICT) and Cooperation Departments was today exclusively invited as the Guest of Honour in a National Workshop held today in Mizoram University (MZU) on the subject ‘AI-Driven Financial Empowerment for Mizoram’.

The Chief Guest in the inaugural session of this two-days National Workshop was Governor of Mizoram, Gen (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh whereas Vice-Chancellor, Mizoram University Prof Dibakar Chandra Deka was also a Guest of Honour along with Secretary ICT Amit Sharma. Apart from them, Director, Transport, Mizoram Er. R. Lalrammawia was a Distinguished Guest, Pro VC Prof Pravakar Rath, was a Special Guest and Dean R&D, IIT Bhilai Prof Santosh Biswas was also a Special Guest in this National Workshop.

During his address in the Workshop, Secretary ICT Mizoram Amit Sharma termed Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the biggest disruptive technology of 21st Century which is still evolving. He gave lot of contemporary examples, like BOT models, Chat GPT, AI-driven financial management tools, education tools, investment solutions, robotics, drone-technology which have started replacing humans for performing various tasks in a big way.

On the ICT front, Secretary Amit Sharma described that Government of India has set-up an exclusive AI Mission, which is constantly working towards exploring new possibilities of using AI in all major fields such as Agriculture, Medical World, Banking and Finance, Defence, Mining, Surveillance, etc wherein India has already achieved a niche spot and he expressed a great optimism about India becoming an “AI Superpower” in times to come.

Governor of Mizoram General (Dr) V.K Singh enlightened the attendees of this AI-Driven Financial Inclusion Workshop with his rich experience sharing in this filed and AI’s wide scale usage in today’s world. He expressed that a strong collaboration between academics and Government departments can lead towards greater efficiency with the inclusion of AI technologies and it can help in betterment of public service delivery in the state of Mizoram.

Also, Secretary ICT Mizoram Amit Sharma assured visiting experts from IIT Bhilai, who are co-organisers of this National Workshop alongwith the faculty of Mizoram University, towards working in close liasion and inking MoUs in all relevant areas for developing AI-driven solutions for various Government Departments in times to come, as envisioned by the Governor of Mizoram.
