Bharti Airtel, a leading telecom giant, has announced its plan to introduce 'Airtel Xstream AirFiber,’ which will be India’s first fixed wireless access (FWA) offering 5G connectivity to consumers residing in Delhi and Mumbai.
This initiative aligns with the government’s ‘Make in India’ program, as all Xstream AirFiber devices will be manufactured locally. The launch of Airtel’s 5G wireless Wi-Fi solution aims to address the connectivity challenges faced by consumers in areas with limited fiber infrastructure, both in rural and urban India. Currently, only 34 million homes in the country have access to fiber-to-home internet services, leaving a substantial number of customers struggling for reliable connectivity.
The AirFiber service offered by Airtel presents an attractive plan with a starting cost of Rs 799, enabling users to experience internet speeds of up to 100Mbps. This plan is available for a duration of six months, accompanied by a one-time refundable security deposit of Rs. 2500.
Customers residing in Delhi and Mumbai can conveniently visit selected Airtel stores or access the company’s website for further details and to avail the service.
Shashwat Sharma, the Director of Consumer Business at Bharti Airtel, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch of Xstream AirFiber for consumers in Delhi and Mumbai and stated that the pan-India rollout is planned in the near future.
