Alka Tiwari Appointed as Chief Secretary of Jharkhand Ahead of State Elections

In an administrative reshuffle ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections, Alka Tiwari (IAS: 1988: JH) has assumed the role of Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, following the consent of the Election Commission of India (ECI). She succeeds L. Khiangte (IAS: 1988: JH), who retired on October 31, 2024.

Alka Tiwari brings extensive experience from her tenure at the Centre, where she served as Secretary of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) prior to her repatriation to Jharkhand. With her appointment, she is expected to serve until her superannuation on September 30, 2025, allowing her a complete one-year tenure as Chief Secretary.
