Amazon India Enters Home Diagnostics Services, Expands Healthcare Ecosystem

Amazon India has announced its entry into the diagnostics segment with the launch of at-home lab testing services through its platform. The new service enables users to book diagnostic tests, schedule and track appointments, and access digital reports directly via the Amazon app.

This marks the latest addition to Amazon’s growing healthcare portfolio in India. Three years ago, the company launched Amazon Pharmacy to facilitate online medicine delivery. Six months back, it introduced Amazon Clinic — a virtual doctor consultation service — providing digital access to licensed doctors for over a hundred common health conditions.

The newly launched diagnostics service is being rolled out in partnership with Orange Health Labs, a diagnostics company established in 2020–21. The service is currently operational in six major cities — Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, and Hyderabad — covering more than 450 PIN codes. It offers sample collection at customers’ doorsteps between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., seven days a week.

Customers can choose from over 800 diagnostic tests. For routine checkups, sample collection can be scheduled within 60 minutes and digital reports can be accessed in as little as six hours, the company said.

Speaking to media, Jayaramakrishnan Balasubramanian, Category Leader at Amazon India, said, ‘Diagnostics closes the outpatient loop by connecting testing with doctor consultation and medicine delivery, all of which can be accessed through the Amazon app.’

He emphasized Amazon’s broader healthcare approach, highlighting the existing offerings. ‘With Amazon Pharmacy, customers get access to a wide range of prescription medications and healthcare essentials, along with a free telemedicine consultation service and delivery benefits for Prime and non-Prime members,’ he said.

Amazon Clinic, launched earlier this year, offers consultations with licensed specialists including general physicians, dermatologists, gynaecologists, and paediatricians, starting at ₹299. The platform has facilitated consultations in the ‘thousands’, with an average end-to-end consultation time of around 13 minutes and a 7-day follow-up support provided for each session.

‘The addition of Diagnostics brings lab testing into the same continuum of care,’ Balasubramanian noted. ‘With all three services now integrated, a connected outpatient journey — from consultation to testing — is offered through a single interface on Amazon Medical, forming a full stack health model.’

While diagnostics is being rolled out in select regions, Amazon said its medicine delivery service is already among the fastest-growing and is functional across a majority of PIN codes nationwide.
