NIIT University has announced the appointment of Amitabh Kant as its new Chairperson, succeeding distinguished scientist K Kasturirangan. This leadership transition marks a significant step in the university’s commitment to advancing industry-aligned education and preparing students for emerging global opportunities.
In an official statement, NIIT University highlighted its vision to expand cutting-edge education, skill development, and global collaborations under Kant’s leadership.
Recognized for his transformative contributions during his tenure at NITI Aayog from 2016 to 2022, Kant spearheaded several key national initiatives, including the Atal Innovation Mission, the Aspirational Districts Programme, and the National Programme on Artificial Intelligence. He also played a pivotal role in launching flagship initiatives such as Make in India, Startup India, and Ease of Doing Business reforms.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Kant stated, ‘It is an honor to join NIIT University, an institution that has consistently led in industry-linked education and skilling. In today’s rapidly evolving economy, universities must serve as catalysts for innovation and workforce preparedness.
