Ashwani Kumar Appointed as Director of Assam’s DITEC

Ashwani Kumar, a 2010-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has been appointed as the Director of the Directorate of Information Technology, Electronics & Communication (DITEC) in Assam. His new role positions him at the helm of the state’s digital initiatives, where he will focus on strengthening IT infrastructure and fostering innovation-driven growth.

With a background in Electrical Engineering from IIT Madras, Kumar brings a strong technical acumen to his new assignment. Under his leadership, Assam aims to enhance its digital ecosystem by developing critical IT infrastructure, including the State Wide Area Network (SWAN), State Data Centre (SDC), and Common Services Centre (CSC). These initiatives are expected to improve government service delivery and connectivity across urban and rural areas.

In addition to infrastructure development, Kumar will oversee the implementation of Assam’s IT Policy and drive initiatives to attract investment in the state’s growing technology sector. His tenure will also emphasize bolstering e-governance projects, strengthening cybersecurity measures, and promoting Assam as an emerging hub for IT innovation.
