In a strategic move to boost industrial growth and renewable energy investments, the Assam Cabinet has approved the Assam Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2025. The cabinet also sanctioned land allocation for a mega industrial park, aligning with the state’s broader vision for economic development.
Chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the cabinet meeting reaffirmed Assam’s commitment to enhancing its industrial and clean energy sectors.
A major highlight of the meeting was the approval of the Assam Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2025. Designed to position Assam as a hub for renewable energy, the policy focuses on the promotion of solar, wind, mini and small hydro projects, pumped storage solutions, battery energy storage systems, green hydrogen, biofuel, and electric vehicle infrastructure. Additionally, it includes incentives for industries engaged in clean energy projects, ensuring a sustainable and investor-friendly framework for development.

- One of the significant approvals includes the allocation of 569 bighas of land in the Morigaon Revenue Circle to the Industries, Commerce, and Public Enterprises Department.
- This initiative aims to attract large-scale investments, stimulate economic growth, and generate employment opportunities across the region.
- In a further push towards renewable energy, the cabinet approved the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) Board’s recommendation to issue Letters of Acceptance to successful bidders for a 250 MW solar plant. The state also approved the development of solar park infrastructure under the Mukhya Mantri Sauro Shakti Prokolpo initiative.
- Beyond industrial and energy advancements, the cabinet approved the notification of Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park, a new protected area spanning 316.29 square kilometers across Chirang and Kokrajhar districts.
- Strategically located between Raimona and Manas National Parks, this conservation initiative is expected to enhance biodiversity, promote eco-tourism, and contribute to environmental sustainability.
- Further policy advancements include the approval of postgraduate increments for Ayurvedic doctors who have completed a three-year postgraduate course.
- Additionally, the government has sanctioned the establishment of Swami Vivekananda University in Chirang district within the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), reinforcing Assam’s commitment to higher education and skill development.
Highlighting Assam’s vast renewable energy potential, Chief Minister Sarma emphasized opportunities in floating solar projects, bio-CNG, green hydrogen, and Aviation Turbine Jet (ATJ) fuel production. He reiterated the state’s investor-friendly policies and its ambition to achieve 3,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, aligning with India’s national sustainability goals.a
