Assam Government Appoints IAS Dr. Lakshmanan S as MD of National Health Mission

The Assam government has appointed IAS officer Dr. Lakshmanan S as the new Managing Director (MD) of the National Health Mission (NHM). Dr. Lakshmanan, a 2011 batch IAS officer, currently serves as the Secretary in the Department of Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises, and the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Additionally, he holds the position of MD of the Guwahati Smart City Limited.

In light of his new appointment, Dr. Lakshmanan has been relieved of his duties as Secretary in the Mines & Minerals Department. This reshuffle aims to streamline administrative functions and enhance the efficiency of the state’s health mission.

Alongside Dr. Lakshmanan’s new role, the Assam government has also transferred and assigned additional responsibilities to two other senior officials. This move is part of a broader strategy to optimize the bureaucratic framework and ensure effective governance across various departments.
