Atanu Chakraborty Reappointed as Part-Time Chairman of HDFC Bank Board

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the reappointment of retired IAS officer Atanu Chakraborty as the part-time Chairman and Independent Director of HDFC Bank’s Board for an extended tenure of three years, marking his stewardship until May 2027.

Chakraborty, a distinguished 1986-batch retired IAS officer from the Gujarat cadre, previously assumed the role of Chairman at HDFC Bank in May 2021, garnering commendations for his leadership during his tenure. With an illustrious career spanning decades, Chakraborty held pivotal positions, notably serving as the Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs before his retirement in April 2020.

His expertise traverses diverse domains including petroleum, natural gas, finance, and economic policy, making him a valuable asset to HDFC Bank’s governance framework.
