The Centre on Thursday announced a launch of a 90-day campaign, “Azadi Se Antyodaya Tak”, with a mission to shower beneficiary schemes of nine Central Ministries to 75 districts with. Celebrating the spirit of the year-long Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the selected districts are associated with the birthplace of 99 freedom fighters.
The three districts from Haryana, Punjab, Kerala and one from Himachal Pradesh found a place in the list of 75 districts selected by the Centre for the ‘Azadi Se Antyodaya Tak’ campaign.
Various schemes under departments of social justice and Divyang Jan empowerment, women and child development, financial services, skill development and entrepreneurship, agriculture and farmers’ welfare, health and family welfare, animal husbandry and dairying, labour and employment and rural development will be implemented in these districts.
The three districts in Haryana are Panipat, Rohtak, and Bhiwani which are associated with Rati Ram Deshbandhu Gupta, Chhotu Ram and Pandit Nekiram Sharma respectively.
The three districts in Punjab are Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar which are associated with Teja Singh Sutantar, Harnam Singh Tundilat and Banta Singh respectively.
Palakkad in Kerela is the birthplace of Captain Lakshmi Saighal and C Sankaran Nayar. The other two districts in Kerala are Kozhikode and Kannur which is the birthplace of K Kelappan and A K Gopalan respectively.
The selected lone district from Himachal Pradesh is Kangra is associated with Baba Kanshi Ram.
