Partha Pratim Sengupta, a veteran in the banking and financial services industry, has been appointed as BharatPe’s nominee on the Board of Unity Small Finance Bank (Unity Bank), in which BharatPe and Centrum Financial Services are shareholders.
Before joining the board of Unity Bank, Sengupta served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) for almost 2.5 years. He spent over three decades in the State Bank of India (SBI), holding multiple roles during his career. Sengupta’s last designation at SBI was Deputy Managing Director and Chief Credit Officer at the Bank.
Rajnish Kumar, Chairman of the Board, BharatPe, expressed his thoughts on the appointment, stating that Sengupta’s experience and understanding of various banking verticals, including corporate and retail banking, MSME and international banking, NPA and risk management, and compliances, will provide valuable guidance to the Management team of Unity Bank. Additionally, his vast experience as a Board member across banks and financial institutions will help Unity Bank develop a robust short and long-term strategy with a focus on growth and enhanced customer experience.
Unity Bank’s Board includes several notable industry leaders, including Amitabh Verma (former Joint Secretary, Banking, and retired IAS officer), Sandip Ghose (RBI veteran), Basant Seth (former CMD, Syndicate Bank, and Deputy MD, SIDBI), Subhash Kutte (former Chairman, RBL Bank), David Rasquinha (former MD, Export Import Bank of India), Renu Basu (seasoned sales and marketing leader), and Jaspal Singh Bindra (Executive Chairman, Centrum Group). Unity Bank’s MD and CEO is Inderjit Camotra.
