C-DOT and Qualcomm Technologies Partner to Propel Design and Make in India Vision

Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) has announced collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, to establish a strategic partnership aimed at fostering innovation in India’s telecom landscape. This partnership is poised to support Indian developers, startups, and academia by providing them with cutting-edge technology, expertise, and resources to accelerate the development and commercialization of indigenous telecom products.

Under this strategic alliance, Qualcomm Technologies will provide C-DOT with state-of-the-art technology, intellectual property training, and tools, along with expertise in wireless solutions. This support will enable Indian startups, academia, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to access foundational chip technologies and domain experts, stimulating innovation and scaling up their R&D efforts. The collaboration seeks to fast track the development and commercialization of innovative telecom products and solutions, aligning with the government’s vision of ‘Design in India’ and ‘Make in India’.

Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Chairman of the Digital Communications Commission and Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications (MoC), expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, ‘India’s developers, academia, and startup ecosystem are driving innovation in the country. This initiative reaffirms the Prime Minister’s commitment to India’s innovative spirit, recognizing the potential of homegrown startups to lead groundbreaking innovations and bolster India’s position in the global telecom landscape.’

Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, highlighted the potential of this collaboration, saying, ‘Our partnership with Qualcomm Technologies will usher in an era of thriving innovation, unlocking the vast potential of Indian R&D. This collaboration will accelerate the commercialization of new products and use cases, fostering a vibrant ecosystem of startups.
