Centre Announces Key Bureaucratic Movements Across Multiple Ministries

The Government of India has approved a series of senior-level bureaucratic changes, including repatriations, appointments, additional charges, and tenure extensions across key ministries and public sector bodies.

  • Dheeraj Mittal (IFoS: 2012: GJ), Deputy Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre on personal grounds.

  • Dr. Anju Rathi Rana, ILS, currently Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs (Ministry of Law & Justice), has been appointed as Member Secretary, 23rd Law Commission of India, until the end of the Commission’s term.

  • Dr. Rajiv Mani, ILS, Secretary, Legislative Department, Ministry of Law & Justice, has received a tenure extension from January 9, 2026, up to July 31, 2028—the date of his superannuation. He has been given additional charge of Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs until a regular incumbent is appointed.

  • Thillaivasan Prabhu (IOFS: 2001), CVO, Cochin Port Authority (CoPA), Kochi, has been granted a two-year extension, from December 26, 2025, to December 25, 2027.
