In a reorganization of its administrative structure, the Chandigarh Union Territory (UT) Administration has reassigned responsibilities among its IAS officers. This reshuffle is aimed at boosting productivity and streamlining governance across various sectors.
Anindita Mitra, a 2007-batch Punjab cadre officer, has been appointed as Secretary for several critical departments, including Urban Planning, Estate/Housing, and Water Resources. Rajeev Verma, a seasoned 1992-batch AGMUT cadre officer, will now head Home Affairs and Police/Prisons.
Ajay Chagti, from the 2010 AGMUT cadre, has taken on dual roles as the Chairperson of the Chandigarh Industrial & Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. and Secretary in the Department of Local Government and Urban Development.
Vinay Pratap Singh (2011-batch Haryana cadre) appointed as Secretary of Transport, Labour & Employment. Singh is tasked with enhancing transportation services and labor empowerment initiatives.
Abhijit Vijay Chaudhary (2012-batch AGMUT cadre) assumed the role of Secretary of Law & Justice, Environment & Forest, and Special Secretary of Home and Police/Prisons. Chaudhary’s diverse portfolio aims to ensure robust legal frameworks and environmental conservation.
Hargunjit Kaur (2013-batch Punjab cadre) appointed as Secretary of Finance, Treasury & Forest, Planning, Statistics, and Engineering. Kaur’s expertise is expected to bring fiscal prudence and strategic planning to the forefront of the administration.
Hari Kallikkat (2018-batch AGMUT cadre) designated as Secretary of IT, Coordination & Protocol. Kallikkat’s role is critical in enhancing the UT’s digital infrastructure and inter-departmental coordination.
