In a landmark event witnessed by esteemed dignitaries, including Sanjay Swarup, CMD CONCOR, and Sujoy Choudhary, Director (Planning & Business Development, Indian Oil, a Non-Binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on January 29, 2024, between Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR) and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) at CONCOR Bhawan, New Delhi.

The primary objective of this MOU is to foster discussions and collaboration between Indian Oil and CONCOR across various domains. Key areas of focus include the exploration of opportunities for utilizing Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) as a fuel and addressing petrochemical and other container logistics requirements. The agreement also aims to establish competitive and stable pricing for contracts at existing and upcoming LNG Auto stations throughout India.

Under the MOU, potential collaborations extend to the creation of virtual storage units within CONCOR’s warehouses for storing Indian Oil’s petrochemical products at different CONCOR terminals. Additionally, the two entities will explore new business prospects, such as the supply of LNG through ISO containers via Railways and Multi-Modal Logistics.

One of the highlights of the collaboration is the utilization of CONCOR’s Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Paradip for Indian Oil’s petrochemical rail dispatches. Moreover, CONCOR is poised to handle potential logistics for a centralized Pet-Chem warehouse of Indian Oil, expected to be established in the near future.

This strategic partnership signifies a concerted effort by two industry leaders in the logistics and energy sectors to leverage each other’s strengths. The collaboration aims to explore innovative avenues and enhance efficiency in the transportation and storage of crucial commodities like LNG and petrochemical products.

The signing of the MOU marks the beginning of a new era of cooperation, with both CONCOR and Indian Oil contributing their expertise to drive advancements in the logistics and energy landscape. The agreement reflects a commitment to sustainable and efficient practices in the transportation and storage of essential goods, ultimately benefiting businesses and consumers across the nation.
