New Delhi: Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INCCU) has announced to extend the deadline for submission of applications for UNESCO Young Professionals Programme 2023. The date has been extended from 8 Oct 2023 to 8 Nov 2023, the official statement said.
The objectives of the Young Professionals Programme 2023 are to improve the geographical representation of the Secretariat, to promote gender balance at international professional level, to provide learning and professional opportunities for young people, and to enrich and diversify UNESCO.
Higher education institutions across the country have requested to call for the applicants and forward the nominations (along with candidate’s CV with all supporting documents) to the Indian National Commission latest by November 8, 2023. The Indian National Commission will then select and submit a maximum number of 15 qualified applications which meet the eligibility criteria. The CV of the candidate along with the attached table duly completed needs to be mailed at YPP@unesco.org.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Nationals of non-represented or under-represented member states of UNESCO, as of July 2023
- Candidates should be 32 years of age (maximum) by December 31, 2023
- Candidates should hold an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) with a specialisation in Natural Sciences; Social and Human Sciences; International Cooperation and Development; HR Management; Business Administration; Psychology; Law; Audit; Finance; Accounting; Media and Journalism; Public Information; Cultural Policies and Development; IR and Political Sciences
- Excellent knowledge of English and French. Knowledge of both working languages is an asset.
Process for shortlisted candidates:
- After a thorough review of applications and an assessment, including video-interviews and/or a written test, short-listed candidates will be interviewed by an Interview Panel.
- Selected candidates will be appointed as UNESCO staff members on a regular Fixed Term contract at the P-1/P-2 level. Assignments may be either at Headquarters or in a Field Office.
- The renewal of their contract will depend on the evaluation of their performance during the 9-month probationary period.
- During the first 12 months of service, the Young Professionals will have the opportunity to work with a mentor who will support them at the start of their assignment.
- Furthermore, the Young Professionals will be given the opportunity to participate in trainings on various and relevant UNESCO’s areas.
