Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation Establishes JJM Digital Academy

New Delhi: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been exchanged between the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, and Echo India in order to establish JJM Digital Academy. The Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, launched the online portal of JJM Digital Academy in the presence of the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti, Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, Secretary Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Smt Vini Mahajan, and Additional Secretary & Mission Director-NJJM, Shri Vikas Sheel. The Department has received support from ECHO India, a non- profit organization, in setting up JJM Digital Academy.

JJM Digital Academy -

The main objective of the Academy is to enhance the capabilities of various stakeholders involved in the water supply program, including administrators, engineers, Panchayat functionaries, technicians, sanitation workers, and foot soldiers. The Academy will provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to the achievement of Mission objectives. By utilizing digital technology, the Academy will deliver training through innovative approaches.

Additionally, the Academy will create a repository of recorded sessions for knowledge sharing and future reference. Key Resource Centres (KRCs) and Implementing Support Agencies (ISAs) will be part of the JJM Digital Academy platform to provide training to the stakeholders. National and State governments will also conduct sessions to share their best practices. Various UN and bilateral agencies, RWPF partners, trusts, foundations, institutions, and civil society organizations have come together to provide knowledge content through this program. They will publish their calendars and reach out to field officers and Gram Panchayat functionaries to ensure timely and location-specific knowledge dissemination.

Minister Jal Shakti, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, expressed that the collective efforts of partners, government, and communities will generate the necessary energy for the sustainability of water supply to households. JJM Digital Academy serves as a platform to harness this energy.
