Direct Tax Collections Surge to Rs 6.53 Lakh Crore Till August 10

New Delhi: Ministry of Finance Department of Revenue Central Board of Direct Taxes has released provisional figures of Direct Tax collections up to 10th August 2023, which continue to register steady growth.

The direct tax collections as of August 10th, 2023 indicate that the gross collections amount to Rs. 6.53 lakh crore, marking a significant increase of 15.73% compared to the gross collections during the same period last year.

Direct Tax collection, net of refunds, stands at Rs. 5.84 lakh crore which is 17.33% higher than the net collections for the corresponding period of last year.

This collection accounts for 32.03% of the total Budget Estimates of Direct Taxes for the fiscal year 2023- 24.

During the period from 1st April, 2023 to 10th August 2023, refunds totaling Rs. 0.69 lakh crore were issued, which reflects a 3.73% increase compared to the refunds issued in the same period of the previous year.
