DPIIT and ITC Forge Strategic Alliance to Strengthen India’s Startup Ecosystem

In a move to drive entrepreneurship and innovation, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has entered into a strategic partnership with ITC Limited, one of India’s leading conglomerates.

The partnership, formalized through an MoU seeks to accelerate the growth of startups and foster technological advancements across the country. ITC’s extensive market expertise and DPIIT’s commitment to empowering startups will create a collaborative ecosystem aimed at fostering innovation and economic growth.

The alliance is set to explore critical areas such as:

  • Digital platforms for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Integration of renewable energy opportunities at manufacturing sites.
  • Development of advanced energy storage systems.

Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Sanjiv, emphasized that this collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s flagship initiatives, including Startup India, Make in India, and AatmaNirbhar Bharat. ‘This strategic partnership will contribute significantly to Vision 2047 by driving inclusive and sustainable growth through innovation-led entrepreneurship. We aim to foster scalable solutions that ensure a thriving environment for startups,’ he stated.

Anil Rajput, President, ITC Corporate Affairs, highlighted the mutual benefits of the MoU. ‘This collaboration will create value for both startups and ITC. By leveraging digital platforms, we aim to achieve future-ready operational excellence in manufacturing and expand ITC’s focus on sustainable practices, particularly in renewable energy.’

The partnership underscores DPIIT’s ongoing efforts to bolster India’s startup ecosystem by connecting entrepreneurial ventures with industry leaders. With ITC’s commitment to sustainability and operational innovation, this initiative is expected to propel startups into new realms of growth, particularly in the fields of digital transformation and green energy.
