In a significant stride towards advancing healthcare excellence in India, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, officially dedicated state-of-the-art facilities at AIIMS New Delhi to the nation. The inauguration ceremony included the unveiling of several key additions, including the Mother and Child Block, Surgical Block, National Centre for Geriatrics, New Paid Ward in the Main Hospital, Center for Advanced Research in Hospital Infection Control, Forensic DNA Laboratory at JPN Apex Trauma Centre, and the Centre for Medical Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CMIE). Additionally, a Private Ward Wing at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Jhajjar was also inaugurated.
Dr. Mandaviya, joined by Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel and Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Union Ministers of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Sudhansh Pant, Union Health Secretary, and Dr. M Srinivas, Director, AIIMS New Delhi, lauded AIIMS as a lighthouse, setting conventions and principles that the entire country follows. He emphasized the outstanding reputation of AIIMS, attributing it to the commitment and enthusiasm exhibited by the dedicated medical professionals working at the institution.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Mandaviya stated, ‘The new facilities have been inaugurated today with the aim to improve healthcare services for the common people. The objective is to ensure that access to quality and affordable healthcare reaches the last mile of the people.’ He further highlighted the government’s initiatives, including the establishment of 1,70,000 Ayushman Aarogya Mandir and the introduction of tele-consultation facilities at health and wellness centers.
Dr. Mandaviya underscored the transformative initiatives in healthcare, such as the launch of the 10,000th Jan Aushadi Kendra and the significant increase in medical colleges, MBBS, PG, and nursing seats in less than 10 years. He also announced India’s global efforts to promote quality and affordable healthcare services through initiatives like ‘Heal in India’ and ‘Heal by India’ to tap into the burgeoning medical tourism sector.
Acknowledging the dedication of Indian healthcare professionals, Dr. Mandaviya commended their commitment to providing service to humanity, rooted in India’s age-old culture. He emphasized India’s role in global healthcare during the COVID crisis, showcasing strengths in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors and upholding values of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.’
