Dr. R.S. Sharma Joins Sify Technologies Board as Director

Sify Technologies Limited has announced the appointment of Dr. R.S. Sharma as a Director on its Board, bringing with him more than four decades of experience in technology-driven governance and digital public infrastructure.

A retired IAS officer from the 1978 Jharkhand cadre, Dr. Sharma is widely recognized for his pivotal role in shaping India’s digital ecosystem. As the founding Director General of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), he spearheaded the development of Aadhaar, the world’s largest biometric identity platform. His tenure as Chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and as Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has had a lasting impact on India’s digital and telecom policies.

Currently, Dr. Sharma serves as the non-executive chairperson of the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and holds independent directorships on several corporate boards, including Tanla Platforms. He holds advanced degrees from IIT Kanpur, the University of California, Riverside, and IIT Delhi, underscoring a strong academic foundation aligned with his extensive administrative experience.

Sify Technologies, a leading player in ICT infrastructure and digital transformation services, stated that Dr. Sharma’s appointment is in line with its strategic focus on innovation and long-term growth. His presence on the Board is expected to provide valuable guidance as the company continues to expand its footprint in India’s evolving digital landscape.
