The government of Punjab has made J-forms available to farmers across the state on their mobile
phones since April 1, 2022. Digitalization of the forms is expected to benefit nine lakh registered
farmers of Punjab who will be looking to sell their crop (wheat) at MSP during this procurement
season.

J-Form is the sale receipt of a farmer’s agriculture produce in mandis. These forms were earlier
issued manually by Arthiyas (commission agents) and were considered proof of income for farmers.
Ravi Bhagat, Secretary of Punjab State Agricultural Marketing Board was the first to think about
digitalizing the j-form. He said that the moment a farmer’s crop is sold in the Mandi, a message
regarding the confirmation of the purchase will be sent along with the J form to the farmer’s
registered WhatsApp number automatically.
Kashmir Singh is the first farmer of Punjab to get a digitised ‘J form’ on April 2 after selling his 51
quintals of wheat on April 1 at the MSP rate in Rajpura Mandi, Patiala district. Farmers who have
already sold their crops are eagerly waiting for their digitised ‘J form’ on their WhatsApp number. By
getting digitized ‘J-forms’, farmers will now have a clear and proper record of the crop sold and
income received.
