The Central Government on Saturday elevated four senior IPS officers from the 1993 batch to the rank of Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB). The officers, who were previously serving as Additional Directors, have been promoted through an in-situ elevation process.
To formalize the promotions, the Centre temporarily upgraded the Additional Director posts held by these officers to the rank of Special Director (Level-16 in the pay matrix) for a period of two years.
The four officers elevated are Rithwik Rudra (IPS: 1993: Himachal Pradesh), Dr. Mahesh Dixit (IPS: 1993: Andhra Pradesh), Praveen Kumar (IPS: 1993: West Bengal) and Arvind Kumar (IPS: 1993: Bihar).
This elevation to the prestigious rank of Special Director marks a crucial milestone in their careers and highlights their contributions to national security and intelligence efforts. The Intelligence Bureau, India’s premier intelligence agency, plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s internal security, and the promotion of these officers further strengthens its leadership.
