How will government benefit from digital economy?

The digital economy is a term used for the country’s economy that’s based on digital payment technologies.

There are various benefits of implementing digital payment methods such as Digital Point of Sale (Digital POS), Unified Payments Interface (UPI), mobile wallets, etc. India is also taking steps towards creating a digital economy that will benefit the government and citizens alike.  Some of the primary benefits that government will witness are:

Eradicate black economy – Transactions can be easily monitored when they are made digitally. Cash-based transactions will be restricted and the government can efficiently expel the black economy.

Emotional discomfort
Emotional discomfort, when accepted, rises, crests and falls in a series of waves.

Increased Revenues – When transactions are made digitally, it is convenient to monitor sales and taxes. Purchasing is recorded and merchants are bound to pay the sales tax to the government.

Empowerment to People –  Once the economy becomes digital, people are bound to have a bank account. This way, the government can easily transfer the subsidies directly to people that they are bound to receive from the government

Promote e-governance – Digital economy will pave the way to e-governance. The government services will be delivered electronically.
